Magdaleno Fabian: Nahual Guardian Spirit

Fantastic one-piece Nahual figure by Magdaleno Fabian. This caracol, snail, nahual, is impressive. It features a snail-woman with her owl. In the ancient Mesoamerican cultures a nahual or nagual was a guardian spirit. It was believed that each person had his own nahual. The Aztecs believed that the snail was the moon god and that the shell was his protection. This fantastic Nahual is magnificently sculpted and painted.
