Wonderful leopard wood carved sculpture by Miguel Santiago. Miguel is a well-known woodcarving artist from Oaxaca and is featured prominently in "Crafting Tradition: The Making and Marketing of Oaxacan Wood Carvings" by Michael Chibnik. He has developed a style of his own, paying particular attention to the faces of his subjects. The eyes are not only painted but carved as well, each tooth is perfectly formed and colored and the ears always have a special theme. This wonderful standing leopard carving is a great example of Miguel'sart.
